Have you experienced a monster with a twist. Did your GM set you up against a usually 'blah' creature (oh no, not another ****) and end up being surprised? Tell us about any unique, hair raising, or funny encounters you've had in the game.

We'll vote on the best story.

I was hard wounded and without my group traveled by barque through Landis. Only adept on a board, 5 crewmembers, in most simply merchants. At evening we needed to find a place for rest. Barque stopped in the bow of river and the crew started setting a camp. Suddenly three ork nomads ran out from nearly forest in our direction. They yelled like berserkers and got weapons in their hands. We were prepared to defend but... they ran between us, jumped to the river, swam to the another waterside and disappear in forest. It was last time we saw them. We stayed in shock.
- What was that?!
After few seconds noise from the bush...
- Wyvern! Run! Save yourselves!

Laughing I like it! I'll have to remember that one.

I had one of my parties travel through the Throal Mountains overa high pass to reach the northern Serpent River. The first surprise encounter was them noticing an approaching dust cloud from around a bend in the river valley followed by the sound of galloping hoofbeats. Several sets of galloping hoofbeats.

As the PCs took cover among the stunted small trees along the bank of the shallow mountain river they saw the lead mounted ork stripped to the waist, heavilly bruised and bleeding freely from several lacerations. He was holding a small bundle in the crook of one arm that looked somewhat baby-sized. And he was holding it very tight to him as if protecting it with his life. He was also clearly trying to outride his pursuers - a mob of about another dozen orks, who were whooping and waving club-like weapons with much gusto and the occasional shout of buunda.

This was actually an innocent game of tussdi - the ork cavalry sport of chasing a "ball" (actually a specially treated goat carcass) and applying much in the way of stick fighting swipes to get possession of it. The orks were all members of Terath's Chargers assigned to a local Gahamarite village "Buundaville" in the next valley and were having a bit of R&R. Hence no uniforms being worn and their appearance as a bunch of wild scorchers.

Fortunately the party decided to wait and see rather than act heroic and "save the baby" and then end up in a precarious social situation.

Hum I like the scenario. Very "Willow" like, I'm sure my lot will spot the "obvious" nicked story plot and jump in for the rescue.

My GM who had kept us hopping during one adventure, he put a group of bandits that lived near a highway in our way. One of the bandits had snuck into camp and taken a item which we had not had time to get identified and some gold. Our dwarven scout was out raged he found the tracks and we all folowed to take down the thief. As we neared the hide out we found more tracks. But we were quite confident that we could handle them. Our Scout stopped us and went closer to check out the area. He saw a huge boulder in front of the door way but no guards, he waved us forward and went to listen to the boulder. He had rolled poorly and heard a soft buzz. He took that for conversation. Now we had a young lad who played a troll warrior he looked at the boulder and anounced he would shove it out of the way. So he made huge show of how he would wrap his arms around the boulder, with a massive grab he attempted to heave the boulder out of the way. Now our GM was very devious the bandits had been there for long time and had made the boulder out of paper machia and filled with bees and honey, when the troll crushed the boulder and was stuck to the boulder with honey dripping down his arms and the bees stinging him. From inside the cave we heard the crossbows twang. We very nearly lost our big friend to bees and crossbow bolts.
The game stopped for nearly 15 miniute as our GM laughed himself silly.
